Decades- 1930s

The 1930s was a rough time period in history. It was overpowered with the battle against the Great Depression, the rise of Hitler’s Third Reich and the beginning of World War II. Cubism was known as one of the most influential art styles in the 20th century. George Braque and Pablo Picasso were actually the first artist to do cubism. I feel that cubism is a really great art style because its really abstract. The image you create is entirely made from something else, other geometric shapes which is what makes it special. Most colors of the 1930s included jade, celadon and seafoam green, pale gold and grassy tans, pale silvered almond and walnut. Fashion in 1930 was highly influenced by stars of the big screen. Greta Garbo popularized the windblown look, with her side-parted hair. Joan Crawford embraced the puffed sleeves, that emphasized her slim waist. Jean Harlow wore halter tops and evening gowns. The silhouette is tall and slender, which emphasized their broad shoulders, a small chest, and standard waistline. Both hair and hems are longer in the 1930s. Hollywood Regency focuses on making the home a showpiece for guests. Hollywood Regency style used a lot of bright, glossy colors on all the furniture. In terms of cars of the 1930s the body design got a bit more sleek and rounded. Cars in 1930 were styled very similarly to 1920s cars. Shirley Temple was the leading child actor of the decade. She was born on April 23, 1928, in Santa Monica, California, Shirley Temple was a leading child film actress during the Great Depression. The young actress proved to be an overnight sensation and a top earner for the studio. By 1940, Temple had already done 43 films.
